Maca root is a malty flavored root with a tangy sweet taste grown in the Andes of Peru. In the extreme climate of altitudes as high as 14,500 feet maca survives the harshest of extremes. Intense sunlight, violent winds, and below freezing weather make this one of the only plants living at this altitude. Known mostly for its high B vitamin content it is rumored that it has increased libido, relieved menopausal symptoms and depression, and increased energy, stamina, and endurance in many who have eaten it.* Also works as an emulsifier in food.
